How can I make arrangements to stay at the Fisher House?
In order to stay at the Fisher House you need to contact the Social Worker Case Manger that is assigned to the veteran. The Social Worker will screen the family and place a lodging request to the Fisher House Manager.

If I get screened by a Social Worker Case Manager and I qualify, do I get to stay at the Fisher House?
Not necessary, a lodging request does not constitute a reservation, all families are placed in the home on a first come, first served bases. This is based on the room availability at the time of the request. This is covered in the

Why can’t I just call the Fisher House Manager for a lodging request and not the Social Worker?
Our VA Social Workers are fully trained professionals that work very closely with the families during the care of the veteran. Our Social Workers are trained to ask all the right questions and to provide referrals and support facilities to assist the veteran’s family during their time of need. The Fisher House staff simply manages the process and provides the lodging as space is available.

How do I know if my lodging request was approved and my family has been assigned a room?
The Fisher House Manager will contact the Social Worker a day prior to your arrival. Your Social Worker will contact you and notify the family members that a room has been assigned.

When can I check into the Fisher House?
We asked that all guest arrive after 1:00PM and no later than 8:00PM, Monday through Friday and between 1:00PM and 3:30PM on Saturdays and Sundays to check in to the Fisher House.

What happens if I can’t arrive to the Fisher House during normal hours of operation?
If a family needs to arrive after normal hours of operation, it’s no problem. Just make arrangements with your Social Worker and request late arrival. The Fisher House staff will drop off your packet at our AOD office located in our Emergency room. Your packet will have instructions with all the necessary items to let yourself in for the night.

Is there any charge for staying at the Fisher House?
There is NO charge for staying at the Fisher House however guest are always welcomed to provide a donation for the services that we have provided your family during the care of your love one.

If I decide to donate to the Fisher House, where does my money go?
100% percent of your donation goes to improving the quality of services and support items for our guest and the home.

Are pets allowed in the Fisher House?
No. There is one exception, certified service animal.

Does the Fisher House have internet service?
Yes, we have DSL.

How long can I leave the home?
Guest cannot leave the home for more than 48 hours without checking out.

Can I have food in the home?
Yes, families are responsible for providing their own meals.

Is there mail service at the Fisher House?
No. We do have a post office nearby.

Does the Fisher House provide transportation?
No. But there is local taxi and bus services.

Does the Fisher House provide Day Care?
No, parents are responsible for supervising children at all times.

Are there medical services at the Fisher House?
No, families will be instructed on what to do in the event of an emergency.

What are the minimum and maximum I can still at the Fisher House?
We have a 3 night minimum and a 90 day maximum. Exceptions will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.
